Job Responsibilities:

We’re seeking a hands-on Controller to own our accounting engine—month-end close, policies, controls, audit readiness, and operational accounting. You’ll ensure the numbers are rock-solid, timely, and GAAP-compliant. Our model includes SaaS + hardware, physical inventory, and customer financing; we are audited and run on QuickBooks.

  • Close & Reporting: Run a fast, accurate monthly close (≤10 business days) with complete reconciliations; deliver a clean package (P&L, BS, CF), revenue waterfall, ARR/MRR roll, gross margin by product, and inventory turns
  • Revenue (ASC 606): Own SaaS + hardware/bundle rev rec; maintain deferred revenue waterfalls and disclosure support
  • Inventory & Cost: Lead costing, cycle/physical counts, NRV assessment, variances obsolescene, and inventory roll-forwards
  • Customer Financing: Handle accounting for classification, effective interest, reserves/charge-offs
  • Policies & Controls: Build JE approval matrices, cutoff tests, 3-way match, SoD
  • Audit & Tax: Manage PBC lists, support testing, draft technical memos; coordinate with external tax partners
  • Ops Accounting: Oversee AR/AP, payroll accounting, merchant reconciliations, and close checklists.
  • Systems: Own QBO structure (COA, classes/locations) and key integrations (bill pay, inventory, payroll); drive automation

Requirements:

  • 8-12+ years progressive accounting experience; owned the close at a high-growth company
  • Strong ASC 606 experience; exposure to bundled HW + SaaS
  • Hands-on experience with debt facilities and convertible notes, including covenant monitoring and derivative liabilities
  • Understanding of stock-based compensation and option-plan reporting
  • Real inventory/cost accounting depth
  • Audit-ready mindset; crisp technical memos; comfort working with external auditors
  • Built lightweight but effective controls and improved close speed/quality
  • Tools: QBO power user, Excel/Sheets expert; comfortable with BI/SQL-driven tools and reports
  • Clear communicator and builder who turns one-offs into repeatable processes
