Description

Alutiiq Career Ventures, LLC, a subsidiary of Alutiiq, LLC has a potential opportunity for a Global Positioning System (GPS) Subject Matter Expert (SME) in Colorado Springs, CO.  The GPS SME will support operations for Mission Delta 31 Space Force. Provides technical and operational expertise on GPS architecture, NAVWAR operations, and positioning/navigation training integration. Supports the development of technical courseware and training enhancement for NAVWAR.

This opportunity is for a POTENTIAL CONTRACT award and is contingent upon the contract being awarded. Consideration of a potential contract may require a signed letter of intent. If the contract is awarded, another position posting will be available on the Company Careers portal.

  • Provide subject matter expertise on GPS, Positioning, Navigation, and Timing (PNT) systems, and NAVWAR operations to support courseware development, instructional delivery, and scenario scripting.
  • Collaborate with 2d Navigation Warfare Squadron (2 NWS) and Alutiiq Career Ventures leadership to align training content with current operational Tactics Techniques, and Procedures, threats, and Mission Design Series volumes.
  • Support the design and execution of mission-based simulator instruction for GPS operations and contested navigation scenarios.
  • Provide augmentation and support instructional classes or mission-based simulator instruction for Combat Training, Readiness Training, and Basic Qualification Training.  Independently administering mission-based simulator instruction.
  • Validate training scenarios and materials to ensure technical accuracy, operational realism, and integration with current space mission priorities.
  • Support course reviews, inspection preparation, and external data calls requiring NAVWAR expertise in alignment with courseware maintenance and readiness reporting requirements.
  • Provide advanced technical training to unit personnel on the use and optimization of Patriot Excalibur (PEX) specialized software and hardware systems, ensuring users can effectively apply the system’s full capabilities to training and evaluation processes.
  • Collaborate with operational leadership to establish, update, and validate PEX training requirements, ensuring mission parameters align with current operational goals and safety standards through the application of military technical knowledge and subject matter expertise.
  • Engage with Government staff personnel during technical exchanges to receive input, clarify requirements, and incorporate feedback on deliverables; coordinate with the Contracting Officer’s Representative as the primary source of technical guidance throughout contract execution).
  • Collaborate with 2 NWS and applicable stakeholders to develop and maintain a list of unsupported training topics and learning objectives not currently addressed by existing task trainers or simulators; support Weapons & Tactics, Readiness Training Review Board, and training system modernization efforts.
  • Serves as the technical authority on NAVWAR matters and provides expert-level consultation to Government personnel (PWS 2.10.3); contributes to strategy for training modernization and capability development by identifying gaps and aligning content with mission requirements.
  • Deliver expert-level instruction on Global Positioning Satellites, including subsystem operations (e.g., TT&C, Attitude Control, Thermal, Propulsion), anomaly response, and unit-specific procedures, ensuring mission-ready technical proficiency for DoD personnel. (LRFP I.a.b)

Payrate: $83,574 to $91,790 Annually



Requirements
  • 8+ years of experience in PNT systems, GPS operations, or NAVWAR.
  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience operating or instructing satellite systems with demonstrated proficiency in GPS architecture and subsystems, including TT&C, ADCS, thermal management, propulsion, anomaly procedures, and tailored local operations.
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Physics, or related technical field; master’s preferred.
  • Operational experience with U.S. Space Force, 2nd Space Operations Squadron/4th Space Operations Squadron, or similar PNT mission sets.
  • Demonstrated ability to translate technical system knowledge into training content and mission-based scenarios.
  • Completion of NAVWAR certification or advanced PNT-focused training.
  • Familiarity with SPOCMAN 13-6GPS and AFI13-602 guidance.
  • Active Top Secret/Sensitive Compartmented Information (TS/SCI) clearance.
  • Ability to serve as a technical advisor on system threat models and contested GPS environments
