AACOM is seeking a full-time, experienced Government Relations and Health Affairs (GRHA) Manager to play a pivotal role in shaping federal healthcare and education policy in support of osteopathic medical education. This position reports to the Director of Government Relations and is an integral member of AACOM’s Government Relations and Health Affairs team. The GRHA Manager leads the execution of health affairs initiatives through public education and engagement, expert forums, government advocacy and public-private collaborations.

ABOUT AACOM

The American Association of Colleges of Osteopathic Medicine, also known as AACOM, was founded in 1898 to lend support and assistance to the nation's osteopathic medical schools, and to serve as a unifying voice for osteopathic medical education. The association is guided by its Board of Deans of member colleges of osteopathic medicine, and various other member councils and committees. AACOM represents and advances the continuum of medical education by:

  • Increasing awareness of osteopathic medical education and osteopathic medicine

WHAT YOU’LL DO

 The GRHA Manager will lead and support high-impact legislative, regulatory, and health affairs initiatives. They will coordinate educational outreach, manage public events, engage with administration and congressional policymakers, and support advocacy efforts that elevate the voice of AACOM’s member institutions. The role includes:

  • Leading health affairs initiatives in collaboration with internal and external partners
  • Managing webinars, panels, seminars, and national conference sessions
  • Developing advocacy materials such as white papers, policy briefs, and comment letters
  • Monitoring and influencing federal legislation, regulations, and advisory committees
  • Coordinating with industry experts and federal stakeholders
  • Engaging with AACOM’s colleges of osteopathic medicine, students, and faculty on policy priorities

WHO WE NEED

 Our ideal team member will have the following:

  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • 5 years of professional experience preferred (government relations, public health, or advocacy roles desired)
  • Strong understanding of federal healthcare and education policy
  • Experience with event management, advocacy, policy development and analysis, and coalition-building
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, with an ability to translate policy into accessible content
  • Strategic thinking and an independent, self-starter mindset
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite; familiarity with tools like CQ, BGOV, VoterVOICE, and Salesforce a plus
  • DMV area residency required for local meetings and events

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS

This is a full-time exempt, hybrid position with health, dental, vision, vacation, sick leave and 403(b) benefits. The salary range for this position is $76,000 to $86,000 annually.
