As a project engineer, you will have the opportunity to lead and participate in a variety of transportation related projects in a team environment. The position reports directly to the Senior Project Engineer.  

Hybrid work schedule is available upon completion of a 6-month probationary period and supervisor approval.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Oversees the investigation, development, and design of a variety of Phase I and II transportation engineering projects, including roadways, bridges and bicycle and pedestrian facilities. 
• Reviews and manages studies, reports, plans and specifications for proposed transportation improvements that are performed by consultants on a wide variety of Phase I and II transportation projects.
• Coordinates with various municipalities, regulatory agencies, IDOT, Tollway, and utility companies.
• Conducts and leads various in-house transportation studies.
• Assists with the preparation of application materials for funding opportunities.
• Ability to work independently and as a member of a team.
• Occasional field work as necessary.

Requirements include the following experience or equivalent combination of training and experience:

• Completion of a Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or a related transportation field from an accredited university
• Minimum of four (4) years of professional civil and/or transportation engineering experience
• Must possess an active registration as an Illinois Professional Engineer (P.E.). Candidates with an out-of-state Professional Engineer license must be able to transfer their license to Illinois within 6 months of employment.
• Must possess and maintain in good standing a valid Illinois Driver’s license
