At Sully.ai, we’re building cutting‑edge AI‑native infrastructure to power real‑time, intelligent healthcare applications. Our team operates at the intersection of high‑performance computing, ML systems, and cloud infrastructure — optimizing inference pipelines to support next‑generation multimodal AI agents. We're looking for a associate‑level engineer to help operationalize adaptive LLM systems in clinical workflows.
This is an applied AI research initiative building on our recently published paper “Second Opinion Matters: Towards Adaptable Clinical AI”. The focus is on implementing adaptive LLM systems for clinical reasoning tasks—complexity‑based model selection, LLM ensembeling for performance gains, and cost‑efficient expert routing. You’ll collaborate directly with our lead researcher to bring the system from design to deployment.
Implement a modular software architecture as defined in the project’s design documents.
Modify and extend existing prototype code to support new features and experiments.
Set up benchmarking pipelines and evaluation systems (using LLMs as judges) with academic datasets.
Build supporting modules (e.g., medical task classifiers, model routing logic) from clear design specs.
Integrate techniques from academic literature, ensuring clarity and consistency in code contributions.
Maintain fast turnaround on implementation tasks and provide regular progress updates.
Proficient in Python, with experience writing clean, modular, and well‑documented code.
General programming skills (Git, debugging workflows) and familiarity with API‑based development and structured outputs (e.g., JSON).
Basic understanding of machine learning concepts and comfort reading/implementing academic research papers.
Ability to follow design specifications and translate academic descriptions into production code.
Comfortable in asynchronous, research‑oriented environments with strong communication skills.
High attention to detail for accurate, reproducible implementations.
Early career experience; recent graduates with strong technical foundations are encouraged to apply.
