Summary: Leads, develops and documents business requirements that assist others in the development of quality based solutions and provides for intermediate business analysis functions for product development and implementation of an enterprise web based insurance processing application.  Additionally, plans and executes multiple technology-related projects to ensure that deliverables are completed as scheduled and consistent with business requirements.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following.  Other duties may be assigned. 

Supervises, coordinates and supports the activities of other business analysts and execution team members.

Manages multiple projects in an agile environment.

Facilitate, train, direct and lead cross functional teams in all areas of the application.

Oversees the development of business requirements documents that meet our customer’s insurance business needs.

Manages cross-departmental and cross-functional teams. Responsible for checking the employees’ quality of work.

Works in a team with software developers, testers, business analysts and others related to Product Delivery.

Provides support and guidance daily to the business analysts in performing their assignments, monitors the successful delivery of BRDs, releases, performance reviews and adherence to policies and procedures.

Facilitates all projects and workflow through the agile process seeing them to completion.

Supports other Focus Technologies teams in their triage of production issues.

Creates and maintains project plans and other project documents for all assigned projects.

Prepares daily updates to project plans and project dashboards.

Analyzes and identifies risks in a project. Assesses what resources will be needed for the project’s completion.

Improves the application workflow for the betterment of our clients.

Coordinates with the technical team during technical architecture design, development and delivery of product changes and enhancements.

Develops and documents business solutions for business problems and translates those solutions to technical personnel and sees those solutions through the delivery process.

Conducts business and technical requirements reviews and makes recommendations to improve the Business Analyst process.

Participates in the continuous development of the BA Teams standard practices and procedures.

Manages client concerns and escalations.

Maintains current knowledge of relevant and related technology and processes used in the environment.

Qualifications:

Education/Experience:

Bachelor’s degree from a four-year college or university, in business, finance or computer science preferred; 10 years relevant experience acceptable in lieu of Bachelor's degree.  Five (5) to seven (7) years of data analysis, or project management experience preferably in the insurance industry; minimum of three (3) years of supervisory experience in related field; or equivalent combination of education and experience.  Experience working with Developers, Project Managers, Quality Assurance Managers and Release Managers preferred.

Language Ability:

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret the most complex documents. Ability to respond effectively to the most sensitive inquiries or complaints. Ability to write speeches and articles using original or innovative techniques or style. Ability to make effective and persuasive speeches and presentations on controversial or complex topics to top management.

Math Ability:

Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.

Reasoning Ability:

Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

Computer Technical Skills:

To perform this job successfully, an individual should have a strong proficiency in SQL queries and related tools such as SQL functions and creation of temporary tables; Proficiency working with DB2 and the ability to work with SQL Server and Sybase. Proficiency working with reporting and Business Intelligence tools including the ability to understand and produce tabular reports, bar graphs, line graphs and pie charts.  Working knowledge of SDLC concepts and goals.  Experience with Kanban methodology, Cognos, InfoMaker and Rational Requisite Pro is a plus.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

Directly supervises more than two (2) employees. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws.  Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; and addressing complaints and resolving problems.
