Description

The Senior Healthcare Statistician plays a key role in supporting client objectives by leveraging specialized statistical knowledge to assess healthcare outcomes, evaluate policy impacts, and measure operational effectiveness. This role requires expertise in designing and executing complex statistical analyses, with a focus on healthcare systems, particularly within the Veterans Health Administration (VHA) and similar organizations. The Senior Healthcare Statistician will interpret data, provide actionable insights, and contribute to high-level reports and performance metrics. 


The Senior Healthcare Statistician will be a key figure in driving evidence-based decision-making within the healthcare system, providing critical insights into operational performance and policy outcomes. This role requires a combination of statistical expertise, industry knowledge, and the ability to communicate complex findings effectively to a wide range of stakeholders. 


** Role Details: This is a temporary W2 role for 3 months, with the possibility of follow-on work, though it is not guaranteed. The position is remote, but preferred candidates would be located in the VA/MD/DC area. 


Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and execute statistical analyses to evaluate healthcare outcomes, policy impacts, and operational effectiveness across VHA programs and other relevant healthcare settings. 
  • Interpret quantitative data from assessment reports, ensuring alignment with legislative requirements such as 38 U.S.C. § 1704A and Congressional reporting obligations. 
  • Apply predictive modeling and inferential statistics to assess performance and forecast future trends, enabling data-driven decision-making. 
  • Create benchmarking analyses comparing VHA findings to private-sector healthcare systems, identifying areas for improvement and innovation. 
  • Prepare clear data visualizations, dashboards, and comprehensive briefings to communicate findings to senior leadership, policymakers, and Congressional stakeholders. 
  • Ensure all statistical methods and results comply with federal standards for transparency, reproducibility, and accountability in reporting. 
Requirements

Education & Experience:

  • A minimum of 10 years of experience in healthcare statistics, data analysis, or a related field. 
  • Master's degree in Statistics, Public Health, Healthcare Administration, or a closely related field. 
  • Extensive experience in applying advanced statistical methods to healthcare data and generating actionable insights for policy and operational improvements. 

Knowledge & Skills:

  • Advanced Statistical Expertise: Proficiency in statistical analysis techniques such as regression analysis, hypothesis testing, predictive modeling, and data visualization. 
  • Healthcare Industry Knowledge: Deep understanding of healthcare systems, particularly VHA programs, and the regulatory frameworks that impact healthcare performance. 
  • Data Interpretation & Reporting: Ability to interpret complex quantitative data and translate it into clear, understandable findings for diverse audiences, including senior leadership and Congressional stakeholders. 
  • Predictive Modeling & Forecasting: Expertise in applying predictive modeling and inferential statistics to assess trends and forecast future healthcare outcomes. 
  • Benchmarking and Comparative Analysis: Skilled in comparing healthcare outcomes, performance metrics, and operational processes between public and private-sector systems. 
  • Data Visualization & Communication: Proficient in creating clear data visualizations, dashboards, and reports that effectively communicate complex data to non-technical audiences. 
  • Compliance & Standards Adherence: Strong knowledge of federal standards, ensuring that statistical methodologies and reporting meet transparency, reproducibility, and compliance requirements. 

Work Schedule

Consistent, full-time work expected Monday – Friday, eight hours per day in a focused and fast-paced environment.
